ResAvian Club’s First Outing of the Year this Saturday!

Come to the ResAvian Club’s first bird-watching event of the year! Birders of all experiences welcome.

We will be meeting at the Troy (Red Gate) Entrance of the Reservoir right next to the Pershing Field Skating Rink entrance. The event starts at 7:30AM lasting 1.5-2 hours. However you are welcome to come for as short or as long as you want!

We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothing as we will be traversing through the trails within the Reservoir. We also recommend bringing along water, binoculars, field guides, and bug spray but we will have a few supplies to lend out for those without.

Enjoy the beautiful weather this Saturday scouting for birds! Water fowl, warblers, jays, and much more! Sign up for the event here!

JC Reservoir Spring Cleanup 2015! April 25th 9AM-12PM

Join us the week of Earth Day for our Spring cleanup! As the weather is warming up and the Reservoir is once again open, we need the help of volunteers to keep the paths clear and clean for everyone to enjoy.

Our Spring cleanup will be held April 25th (Saturday) from 9AM-12PM. We will be mulching paths, pruning trails, and cutting shoots. We recommend bringing gloves, pruners, and water but we will have some supplies to loan out. Any amount of help is greatly appreciated and we hope to see you there!

Thanks for Coming to the Evergreen Gala!

Photos of the event taken by Michael Dempsey of nj.com!

On Behalf of Pershing Field Garden Friends and the Jersey City Reservoir Preservation Alliance we’d like to thank all those that came out to our Holiday fundraiser “Evergreen Gala” at the Lincoln Inn. Thanks to The Sensational Country Blues Wonders & Twiddlin’ Thumbs for providing the entertainment and to John at the Lincoln Inn for providing a great venue.

We could not do this without the ongoing support of our community partners the Washington Park Association, Riverview Neighborhood Association, Jersey City Parks Coalition, Heights Hope, West Side Community Alliance, Friends of Van Vorst Park and our respective boards.

Thanks to local merchants for their generous contributions:
Central Ave Liquors, Stop & Shop, Rite Aid, Radio Shack, Garden State News, Lu Lu’s Hair Zone, Bloomsbury Sq, Do You Tea, WHO’S baked goods, Los Tres Chilitos, Cathy King Pottery, Central Ave Dunkin Donuts, Renato’s, Tommy’s Family Restaurant and the Hyatt Regency. I would also like to thank those who solicited donations and contributed: Albina Meluso, Mary Daly, Debby DeVenezia & John Faherty, Tess O’brien, Diane & Tom Brown, Patricia O’Hanlon, Friends of the Loews, Gerald Lyons, Tami Resch, Maria Ambrossi and Patrick Ambrossi.

I’d also like to thank Council President Rolando Lavarro for attending and providing his continued support.

It is in this spirit of community that we raise a glass to all those that have made our progress possible this year and look forward to an outstanding New Year. Cheers!!
