Kayaking is back at the Reservoir!

The Jersey City Reservoir is hosting Kayaking Days in August! We will have two kayaking events:

August 9th (Sunday)
August 22nd (Saturday)

Both run from 10AM – 3PM. As always, kayaking is free at the JC Reservoir but donations are always appreciated and help us to fund more of these events for the community to enjoy!

For anyone unfamiliar with Kayaking Day at the Reservoir, the event is operated on a first come first serve basis. There are both single and tandem boats available for use for periods of fifteen-twenty minutes (if no one is waiting for a boat you may stay in the water longer). A life jacket will be provided which all paddlers must wear at all times in the water. All participants must also sign a waiver prior to getting in the water. Anyone under the age of 18 must have an adult, parent or guardian, sign their waiver as well as be accompanied by an adult. Personal kayaks are not allowed in the Reservoir.

We recommend participants bring water, sunscreen, sunglasses/hat, and to wear comfortable clothing/shoes which they do not mind getting wet. We also recommend bringing a friend along to enjoy the experience! A good idea is to bring sturdy zip-lock bags to store phones and other items you do not wish to get wet while in the boat. You may leave items on the shore but the Reservoir is not responsible for any missing, damaged, or stolen possessions during the event.

The kayaks are generously provided by the Hoboken Cove Boathouse. These kayaking events would not be possible without their support! We would also like to thank the American Canoe Association for sponsoring these events!

We welcome all kayakers, new and experienced to join us for spectacular views on the water this August!
